Standard of the Original Bulldog

GENERAL
Recreation of the original bull-baiting dog of old Europe.

APPEARANCE
Medium sized dog. Powerfully built with great strength and athleticism
Weight for males 60# to 90#, Females 40# to 70#. Height at shoulders for
males 18" and up, females 16" and up. The dog
should be stocky yet having the appearance of an athlete.

BREEDING
Foundation breeding is 1 half American Bulldog, 1 quarter English Bulldog,
1 quarter olde Bulldogge, and variations there-of. Dogs that resemble
mastiff blood will be considered pet quality and will not be allowed to
breed.

TEMPERAMENT
Friendly yet fearless. A family loyal companion that will give his life for
master or property.

HEAD
Large in proportion to body and square, sunken between eyes, extending
up forehead. Wrinkled yet not overly loose, Jaw muscles large. Lower jaw
turned up and protruding. Bite square and undershot, ears set high and
wide. Rose or fold over prefered.
Dewlap will have two folds.

BODY
Neck should be short and nearly as wide as head. Shoulders broad and
muscular, front legs may be slightly bowed or straight. Ribs
well rounded and chest wide and deep. Back short, slight roach preferred.
Belly well tucked. Thighs well muscular. Rear legs
neither pigeon toed or cow hocked. Tails may be pump handle, crooked,
cropped or full length.

COLOR
White, Brindle, Black, Fawn, Chocolate, Blue, Red, any variations there-of,
not allowed merle, or tri color, similar to a rottweiler
will be considered pet quality.

COAT
Short, close and medium fine,
